On Wednesday 12 March, WIZO Durban celebrated our 80th AGM. This milestone occasion was appropriately themed, the WIZO Tree of Life… Strength, Vitality & L!ove. The “Tree†analogy represents how we are bound by firm roots embedded in history, and how we have blossomed intro a strong and beautiful organization; thus nurturing the women and children of Israel. We were privileged to pay tribute to some of our formidable past chairman who where present and honored on this occasion. These included, Arline Foreman, Marcia Strous, Sharon Levitan, Lynn Foster and Suzanne Edmunds (the latter was unable to attend). In a special presentation, Marcia Strous took us down memory lane, with some interesting recollections of the
!WIZO story. Rabbi Mark Friedman, our guest speaker and friend endorsed
the wonderful work of WIZO and highlighted the importance and beauty of Chesed. Laurienne, Michelle and Colleen will remain in Chair for yet another term of office. Together with the Executive, members and loyal supporters the “self-styled Trio†reflected on a successful year and reiterated their optimism for a productive a!nd busy year ahead. As always delicious eats and treats ended of this auspicious and nostalgic 80th AGM.
