TEMPL E DAV ID HEBREW SCHOOL L EARN ABOUT Tu BI SHVAT
The Temple David Hebrew School’s first term is well under way and in preparation for Tu Bishvat the learners have been studying the meaning
of the festival, its customs and practices. They have also spent time examining trees around the DJC, observing the differences and thinking
about the significance of trees in our everyday lives. They noted that trees teach us to stand tall, remember our roots, drink plenty of water
and enjoy the view. The learners made a tree of quotes to celebrate the New Year for Trees.

On 3 February 2017, I was invited to attend a meeting of the South
African Legion of Military Veterans, where I was warmly welcomed.
The event was held at 84 Signal Unit in Old Fort Road. The committee
informed me that our late Chairman, Esmond Jacobson, had a long
association with the Legion and was highly respected by them.
Stan Hart, our new Chairman, is now back from his overseas trip and
is in the process of organising the next Jewish Ex-Service meeting.
Members will be contacted when the date has been finalised.
Sincere thanks to all the loyal younger members who support the
league by attending these functions.
Kindly contact Stan Hart on 0828560060 or email:
