Beth Shalom enjoyed the day of love on the 14th February 2017. Staff and residents were dressed in Red and White. A lovely lunch was served
to the Residents- what a lovely day which was enjoyed by everyone.
Prizes were given for the best dressed on that day. Jenifer Kaplan won first prize and Leah Maserow won second prize.
There was such fun at the UJW Bingo morning on the 1st March 2017! This was a surprise from the UJW and residents at Beth Shalom to wish
Evelyn Cohen Yisharkoach for belonging to the UJW for 40 years. This is quite an achievement by anyone’s standards. So congratulations to
Evelyn on behalf of our President, Mr Stan Liansky, Trustees, Committee Members and Residents.
Our residents have enjoyed going to Circle Café for tea and cake and commented on the excellent service received from Judy Druck and her staff.
We were treated to the children reading to our residents on the 2nd March 2017 for International Reading Day. This was thoroughly enjoyed and
everyone loved the noise and excitement of the children. This will now become an annual event due to the success and enjoyment of this day.
Lots of residents have enjoyed their birthdays this month namely: Denise Blumenfeld; Shirley Palte; Janie Wolman; Alec Vituli; and Beryl Israelite.
Martha Levi will be celebrating her 102
nd
birthday on the 4
th
March 2017. So Mazeltov to all our residents who have enjoyed their birthdays.
A big thank you to the Vryheid Memorial Trust who donated beautiful wheelchairs to the Home and exquisite wing back chairs for our semi-clinic.

PUR IM AT THE DPJC
On Sunday 12 March, the DPJC celebrated Purim at the DJC starting with
a reading from Megillat Esther and a recitation of the story of Esther by
the children of theTemple David Hebrew School. The traditional annual
fancy dress competition always highlights the ability of both young and
old to come up with imaginative and amusing costumes and this year
was no exception. The judges were hard pressed to decide on winners.
Netzer, under the leadership of Amy Groer organised Purim games and
art projects for the children. And if that was not enough to keep the
little ones busy a jumping castle had many parents dragging reluctant
children home at the end of the party.
A special mention must be made of the mothers of the Hebrew School
children who assisted with catering and other preparations. Special
thanks to Tracy Droyman, Natalie Baitz,Alexandra Cohen, Sheli Francis,
Sue Salomon, Colleen Mervis, Lorian Norton and Carolyn Thom for all
their hard work in the kitchen.
DPJC congregants, in response to an appeal by Project Ten made
generous donations of rice, mealie meal, beans and the like to be
distributed by Project Ten to communities with whom they are working.
We thank our always generous congregants for the support.
